Umpiring
FDNA provides a pathway for any umpire wishing to gain their umpires' badge. Most
junior umpires start umpiring on a Saturday in our junior competition and then progress
to our After School and night competitions. FDNA provides training for those umpires
who are keen to advance themselves, as well as offer courses for accreditation purposes.

Introduction to Umpiring Workshop <back to top>
The Introduction to Umpiring Workshop
caters for anyone who is interested in becoming an umpire and for players and coaches
who want to cover basic rules, positioning and areas of control. It is a great course
to attend prior to undertaking practical umpiring.
Length: 3 hours
Cost: $20
Requirements: Current Netball Victoria Member.
Course Material Provided: Booklet, certificate & Netball Victoria resource material.
Level 1 Umpiring Course <back to top>
The Level 1 course is nationally accredited
and is aimed at those currently umpiring and wanting to improve. This course is a
prerequisite for “C” grade testing. Must be a current Netball Victoria member.
Length: 4 hours
Cost: $50
Requirements: A Section 1 Theory mark. Practical Umpiring experience. Must be a current
Netball Victoria member.

“Rules in Action” Session <back to top>
The Rules in Action is a look at
the game from the first Centre Pass to the end of the game, presented from the point
of view of the skills of the game and how the rules embrace those skills.
Length: 4 hours (2 x 2hr or 1 x 4hr sessions)
Cost: $20
Requirements: Prerequisite for “A” and “AA” testing. Current Section 1 Theory mark.
Must be a current Netball Victoria member.

Level 2 Umpiring Course <back to top>
The Level 2 course and attendance at
the “Rules in Action” session are requirements for “A” and “AA” testing and endorsement.
Length: 6 hours (5 hours Course, 1 hour practical umpiring)
Cost: $60
Requirements: Current Section 1 Theory mark. Must be a current Netball Victoria member.

Netball Victoria Theory Exams <back to top>

aspiring umpires to wait until and allocated sitting period to sit the theory exam.
